Learn About Ink Cartridges To Be Able To Save Money

ByThomas Krakowsky

There are plenty of designs and manufacturers of ink cartridges present in the market place. The ink cartridge is the most important item required by any printers to print the information. The ink cartridges have to be replaced or refilled when ever the ink gets below the minimum level. If the ink is not as much as required in cartridges then the print quality will be too bad. Sometimes if the color cartridge is low in ink then the whole color of the printing will change.

When any printer is purchased the company will provide the printer with introductory cartridges which can be used as normal cartridges and disposed once it gets over. They cannot be refilled. Hence you will have to purchase a new cartridge depending the quality of print your want and start using it.

There are two types of ink cartridges available in the market, the regular cartridges and the refillable ink cartridges. The main difference is the refilling of ink to the cartridge. The normal one cannot be refilled with the ink and hence have to be dispose off after the use. But the refillable ink cartridges can be filled with ink again and again for a certain times. The main advantage of refillable ink cartridges is that the price for the filling of ink is less and hence you can save lots of money in the ink.

The refillable ink cartridges can be recycled manually for about 8 to 10 times when the ink is low. The refilling capacity of the ink cartridge totally depends on the brand as well. If you are using the cartridges for a long run they you can surely save a lot of money. The refilling of the cartridge has to be carried out before the ink runs dry. When the ink in your cartridge is low the printer software will warn you about it and hence it will be the right time to get it refilled for the next use.

If there was any delay made in refilling of ink in the cartridge then the ink might get dry and will block the print head. This will result in improper supply of ink and hence bad quality print. If your cartridge gets dry then it is better to dispose it off. You can find some sellers who offer refurbished cartridges which can be used for about 8 to 10 times.

If you are running a color printer then the ink level detector can inform you about which ink is getting low so that you can get that particular ink refilled. However there are some printers and the companies who do not support the cartridges to be refilled and used again. So while you are purchasing the printer make sure to ask the vendor about this as well. Some people think the use of refilled cartridge might void the warranty but as per the law you can make use of refilled cartridge and it will not violate the warranty. Do not forget to replace the cartridge after 8 or 10 use.

Overview of LAN Hardware

LAN hardware includes the actual cabling and the infrastructure - the internetwork connections. Servers must be able to access other servers and users must be able to access information anywhere in the network. In client/server environments, servers send fewer packets per request than in other environments because only the results of requests are send back to the client. However, this may not ultimately decrease network traffic because client/server environments usually support more users than mainframe-oriented network.

There are five ways to interconnect Local Area Networks:

1. Repeaters
2. Bridges
3. Routers
4. Network hardware gateways
5. Backbone networks

The methods are listed in order of increasing functionality. Backbone networks are connecting networks; they are not pieces of hardware that connect networks.

Repeaters:

As a signal travels along a cable, it loses strength. If communicating stations are at great distances from one another, repeaters can be used to regenerate the signal back to its original strength. A repeater can also be used to extend the reach of a LAN. Repeaters can only be used when the Local Area Networks on both sides of the repeater are identical. They must have the same physical transmission characteristics and use the same protocols.

Bridges:

Bridges are used to connect Networks with different physical transmission characteristics and protocols. For example, a third-party bridge might be used to link multiple Ethernet Local Area Networks, each supplied by different manufacturers. Bridges are a simpler technology than routers. They operate at the Media Access Control sub layer of the Data Link Layer of the OSI model.

Routers:

A router is a hardware device that manages the route selection for data packets and for minimizing traffic loads on linked Networks. Router link logically separate Networks, permitting them to share traffic loads and prevent the choking that occurs in bridged Networks.

Routers are used to connect two different networks. Each network may have been implemented independently and include stations with the same address. Router performance is typically rated by the same two variables as bridges: filtering rate and forwarding rate, both measured in packets or frames per second.

Network Hardware Gateways:

Networks gateways are used to connect networks that are entirely different. Network gateways perform all the conversions necessary to go from one set of protocols to another, including:

1. Message Format Conversion.
2. Address Translation.
3. Protocol Conversion.

Backbone Networks:

Many organizations are now providing connections between Local Area Networks using backbone networks. Backbone networks are of a higher quality than the connected Networks and usually use microwave-based links.

The methods are listed in order of increasing functionality. The characteristics of the Local Area Networks to
be connected determine which device should be used.

BNC Connectors for Audio-Visual Cabling

ByB Sullivan

BNC is a radio frequency connector, a type of coaxial cable, which is used for connecting data networks and audio/video applications to radios, computers and TVs. If you are looking for audio/visual connector cables for the computer or any other electronic equipment, then BNC connectors could an option to consider.

If you are looking for audio/visual connector cables to connect your new portable media player and stereo speakers to the computer, or replacing the old ones because of signal interference, then BNC connectors can be a very good option.

BNC connector is an acronym for Bayonet Neill-Concelman connector. BNC is a Radio Frequency connector, a type of coaxial cable, which is used for connecting data networks and audio/video applications to radios, computers, TVs and other radio frequency electronic equipment. This connector derived its name from two things - firstly, from the used technology of the connection, and secondly, from the names of its very own creators, Carl Concelman and Paul Neill, of Bell Labs.

BNC connector has a bayonet-like shell plug (the male portion) with two small pins that fit into the spiral slots on the receptacles (the female portion) of the connector. After the plug has been inserted into the receptacles, it is twisted into a locking position. This connector is generally used on 10BASE-2 thin Ethernet networks, on both ends - the chain interactions and the network cards.

There are two versions of BNC connectors, 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm. These are matched with the cables of the same properties for use. Frequencies below 2GHz use 50 Ohm while that below 4GHz use 75 Ohm. In the beginning, only 50 Ohm versions of BNC connectors were produced. At the time of its application, it was joined with various other cables and the difference occurring in the wires was unnoticeable at lower frequencies. Later on, the 75 Ohm category emerged, which can be recognized by the absent or the reduced dielectric at each mating end. For DS3 Telco central office applications, 75 Ohm BNC connectors are used, while 50 Ohm is used for RF and data.

A BNC connector is most commonly used for RG58 cables in order to terminate its coaxial cable. Once the BNC connector is joined to the RG58 cable, compound video is produced just like the one from the commercial video equipment. A lot of coaxial cables should not be used for interconnecting BNC connectors and RG58 cables, as it will lead to ground loops generating an unwanted stream of current in the conductor that attaches the two points at the same potential.

Some people use BNC connector to connect the monitors in order to maximize the accuracy of the signals released by the video adapter. It makes for an ideal alternative to the RCA connector, when cable connector is used for common composite video devices. It is actually another form of RCA connector which is often used with RCA jacks by some large consumer electronic devices through a simple adapter. For higher frequencies, TNC (Threaded Neill-Concelman) connectors are adapted, as it offers standard performance.

For buying BNC connectors or any other kind of audio/visual cables, you can go on the internet. There are many online stores that offer all kinds of cables including network cables, audio/visual cables, etc. at affordable prices.

This article has been written by an expert associated with CNA, a premier online store that offers all kinds of computer tools including audio/visual, network hardware, printer supplies, tools & testers, security accessories and more.
